Hey there,

We’re Joe & Lindsey, founders of Grain&Grit! We’re a couple of beer-obsessed, home-brewing, family-oriented, fun-loving folks who’ve made our home in the fine city of Hamilton.

Grain&Grit has been in the works for well over a decade. For the longest time, it was just a pipe dream that would surface when we were drinking craft beer and fantasizing about changing our lives and starting a business together. It wasn't until Joe started home-brewing that this crazy idea of ours started to take on a life of it’s own. He found so much joy in the brewing process and in sharing his beer with our friends and family, that he knew it was how he wanted to spend his days. So, we started to take action.

Once we found our building at 11 Ewen Road in Hamilton, Joe quit his job and shit started to get real! We hired a ridiculously wonderful human named Alex to be our head brewer and we all worked together to build Grain&Grit — from framing the walls to plumbing, to painting and everything in between. We finally opened our doors in October 2017 and we’re having a blast making beer and serving our amazing customers!

We pushed ourselves way outside of our comfort zone to get here, and we’re hoping to inspire you to do the same. Or at the very least, we can provide you with a beer or two to enjoy while dreaming of your next big move.

Meet the G&G family

Joe Mrav, Co-founder

Joe spent his career as a Mechanical Engineer but his passion and heart were always with beer. He fell head-over-heels for home-brewing a few years back, much to the delight of friends and family, and he hasn't stopped brewing since. He loves IPAs, pilsners and is always a sucker for a good coconut porter.

Lindsey Mrav, Co-founder

Lindsey brings her expertise as an art director, along with her passion for design, digital strategy and customer service to G&G. She's responsible for branding, interior design, marketing, events and more! She really digs juicy IPAs and sour beers.

Alex Sporn, Head Brewer

Alex hails from a small town in Germany and he now calls Hamilton home. His background is in chemistry, biology and winemaking. He’s worked at wineries all over the world and made the switch to brewing at G&G with ease. Alex gravitates toward sessionable beers and has become a master at crafting low ABV beers with big flavours.
